Brahmarishi Ramanand Saraswati was born as Ram Avatar Sastry in a family of freedom fighters in October 1948 in Farrukhabad district in UP, India. His father, Shri Babu Ram worked alongside Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the INA and died when Ram was very young. His mother, Jaidevi, was a pious Hindu lady who raised him and his siblings, all in all 4 of them, in a very chaste environment. He was known as Ram Avatar or Ram to his colleagues, co-workers and kin.
Ram was a very quiet child and loved his moments of solitude. In moments of his quietude, he used to read and listen about Sanatan Scriptures from his mother and discussed these topics with amazing precociousness. Mother noticed some very unusual streak in her child. From a very young age he was adept in scriptures and related Hindu science, most notably Astrology.
His family traced their ancestry to Gujarat and his peers in the family were closely associated with Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and his freedom struggle. His tryst with Sardar Patel remains to this date. As a natural progression, since his early childhood, Ram was imbued with a sense of nationalistic fervour that ran in his blood. He was of an inquisitive disposition and matriculated from school to join the IndianArmy as a sepoy in August, 1968.
Destiny has its own way of doing things. Ram actively saw and participated in the 1971 war and the liberation of Bangladesh and was critically wounded that made him retire early from the forces in 1972. During his tenure, he rendered his service in the Eastern Command theater under Brigadier S.K.Sinha, (later Lieutenant General and VCOAS). Gen Sinha and he maintained their cordial and formal relation post service. Ram Shastri was indeed fortunate to have served his motherland and in the defence of the nation. By 25, due to debilitating back injury, he was boarded out from the army. Post his premature retirement he took to reading the ancient scriptures and rekindled his liking for politics, astrology and philanthropic cum social activities. Destiny intervened once again. Ram Avtaar came in contact with Swami Naradanand Saraswati, Peethadheeshwar of Naimish Vyas and became his disciple. He underwent and passed rigorous spiritual practices and got anointed as Brahmarishi Ram by his Guru.
Destiny intervened again and he came in contact with the well known political personalities of that time like Raj Narain and Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna. Bahuguna made him the VP of UP of his party Youth For Democracy (YFD). His astrological cum political acumen was widely noticed. It landed him in trouble too once as in the case of a prediction he made on Indira Gandhi. in 1982. He keeps enthralling with his deep astrological knowledge combined with political punditry.
Later, Brahmarishi Ram started publishing papers under the name of 'Amrit Mahima' and 'Sardar Patel Samachar'. He formed Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Foundation circa 2002..By doing this, he not only served a vast section of society but also built his own credentials for him to move at the centerstage. He has received a number of awards and accolades to his credit. Some prominent among them are:
  • Shantidoot Ambassador Peace Award for his phenomenal contribution in promoting peace and harmony, teaching and writing from the International Seminar on World Peace Movement organized by Shridhar University, Pilani, Rajasthan in the year 2013.
